Hi strap lovers, this is the latest Dangerous9strap for one of my favorite watches: the Bell & Ross BR02. It's a watch I own and the first strap that I made to fit any Bell & Ross watch was for the BR02. This strap was made for my great customer Daniel and is pretty special however for a few reasons. First, it's the first Hornback American Alligator strap I have ever made for any Bell & Ross watch (I've made many Caiman skin strap, but this is the first American Alligator). Second, it was made with not just any American Alligator hide but my newly arrived Swiss Hides American Alligator, which essentially means that it's among the very finest American Alligator skins available anywhere. Third, this strap has been upgraded with Dangerous9straps' exclusive 'SuperExotica' upgrade - in this example using the last of my very rare (and I think now impossible to acquire) Emergency Orange Ostrich Leg skin lining. But the fourth and most important reason is that this strap has been built with the hornback skin section spliced to American Alligator belly skin where it interfaces the buckle - a first for any Dangerous9strap. I had always been hesitant in the past to use this technique because I has wasn't sure about the durability of the sliced seam and I because I had seen a number of straps using this technique where the transition between the hornback section and the belly section was in-artfully (to put it mildly). However, I was forced to try this technique because the horns of this Swiss Hides hornback Alligator are so prominent that If I has used my typical method of having the horns run the length of the strap, it would have been literally impossible to buckle. The horns of this alligator are extraordinary raising about a quarter of an inch above the surface of the Alligator skin, and so I would either need to splice the strap or not use this skin at all. Well, if any of you know me, I just couldn't let this challeng pass me by with out at least trying the splicing technique. Daniel's strap is hand saddle stitched using Slate Grey 4 ply waxed Irish linen thread. Her are the results: I hope Daniel is happy with his new strap. I think its a really looker.
