The new 'Safari Collection' premium leathers from - Tusting and Burnett

Hannibal - Stone (Buffalo)

Marsh - Dirty Denim (African Sheep)

Jurassic - Chocolate (African Sheep)
(click on any photo to enlarge)

Hi strap lovers. We're happy to announce the 'Safari Collection' our newest line of watch straps which introduces 3 entirely new leathers  to Dangerous9straps' growing collection of fine watch strap offerings. The 'Safari Collection' is intended to combine a casual old world Luxury, with the rugged nature of being on safari - consider it extreme casual. These initial 3 are just the beginning of our 'Safari Collection' and consist of the leather described below.  But first a bit of background on our newest supply partner:

While exploring Lineapelle (the huge leather trade show held twice yearly in Bologna, Italy) this past March, Andrea and I found a  handful of treasures amongst the many, many booths of traders selling mostly pretty ordinary leather of various colors and finishes.  One such gem was the boutique tannery Tusting and Burnett Tusting and Burnett , nestled in the lovely North Befordshire countryside, is a 4th generation family owned and managed tannery.  Specializing in bespoke Sheep, Goat and Buffalo leathers from Africa, they're an absolute treasure.  Their leathers, thick and soft with incredible colors, enormous texture and abundance of character, are works of art from the old school tradition of leather tanning.  These leather really do bring to mind being on African safari.

One of the things I love about the English is their love of tradition.  That one can still find these incredible small manufacturers making products that are second to none in terms both quality and old world charm, is to be celebrated.  Admiring the small selection of astonishing leathers curated from T&B's extensive offerings and speaking with Charlotta Tusting, T&B's expert and attentive Sales and Marketing head, it was clear that the future of Tusting and Burnett is in very good hands and it's outlook is very bright indeed.  Dangerous9straps is proud to add Tusting and Burnett to our short list of supply partners and we look forward to adding more of their wonderful leather to our lineup in the very near future.

Here is a more detailed look at the leathers for our new 'Safari Collection':

Hannibal - Stone: Is an African Buffalo leather with incredible depth of texture that is reminiscent of Elephant leather, thick and buttery soft (something we've found with all leathers from Tusting and Burnett) it will make beautiful straps.  The dye color I've chosen is 'Stone' and has wonderful color variations from very light desert Tans to deep coffee browns and shows tons of character.

Marsh - Dirty Denim: Is Afican sheep.  Wonderfully textured with a soft almost Nubuck hand.  The color form the tannery is called Dirty Denim, but to my eye looks more like an Acid Wash denim and I think will look incredible with our butterscotch linen thread.  The wonderful color and texture variations throughout these skins mean that no two straps with exactly alike

Jurassic - Chocolate: Is again an African Sheep and show enormous texture and a more traditional leather surface.  Soft and luxurious this leather will be a great choice for our customers that want a strap with an incredibly soft and supple feel, but a more traditional vintage leather look - perfect for vintage watches and sport chronographs.

Jurassic Chocolate

Expect to see some samples of straps using these leathers very soon and in the meantime, if you would be interested in getting a strap made for your beloved time piece from our 'Safari Collection', please contact me right away!

Newly completed Vintage Swiss Canvas/Leather strap for BR03

(ckick on any photo to enlarge)

Hi strap lovers, I want to share with you Dangerous9straps most recently completed Vintage Swiss Canvas and leather straps this time make to fit a Bell & Ross BR03. This strap was made for my very good custom James from Canada and hopefully he'll send along some photo when it's all mounted up to his iconic BR03. This strap is made from Canvas and leather salvaged from a 1950's era Swiss Army rucksack. The canvas is woven from thick Linen and cotton tread in Natural Ecru and Army Green which gives the canvas it's distinctive mottled color. And is also extremely tough, being about 1mm thick. The Genuine Vintage leather has a beautiful color with the marks of character from heavy duty use, but is still very strong and supple. James' strap has been hand saddle stitche using our finest Olive Drab 3 ply waxed Irish linen thread, which I think matches perfectly with both the canvas and the vintage leather. Overall this strap with it's vintage leather lining and leather border around the front of the strap as well as the keeper shows by far the most detail work on any Canvas strap available today and is by far superior in both design and execution to any Canvas/Leather strap you'll find (the detailed keeper alone taking nearly an hour of careful work to complete) Seeing these photos I think you'll agree. If you're interested in have one of these straps for your own watch, please don't hesitate to contact me for details and options!

New Dangerous9strap review on PaneraiCental

(Click on any photo to enlarge)

Hi strap lovers I wanted to share a Dangerous9strap review that just went live on PaneraiCenteral.com and a few photos of the strap I made for review. The strap is an Ocean Blue Stingray for Kahlil of Panerai Central's PAM312. It's heavily padded sculpted to give it a great profile at the lug and also continuing to the tip of the strap. Gently tapered to 22mm at the buckle, this strap features our SuperExotica Upgrade with Bone colored Eel skin lining and has been finish with hand blended edge paint to match the unique Ocean Blue colored stingray. Here is a link to the review on Panerai Cental . Here also is a link to the interview I had done for Panerai Central a couple of months ago. Kahlil's PAM is definitely our 'Watch of the Week'.

Newly arrived Alligator Skins from Italy!!

L to R: Walnut & Cognac
(Click on Any photo to enlarge)

Hi strap lovers, I wanted to post a few photos of our newly arrived Alligator skins from our tanners in beautiful Northern Italy.  These skins are extremely fine and with great color:  Walnut, Cognac and Carbon, which is a very cool super-matte black.  The Walnut is a beautiful medium brown with not too much red tones that I think will make stunning watch straps.  The Cognac is a wonderful light brown with beautiful with warm  caramel tones.  What can I say about the Carbon-Black hide except Wow! This hide is a true matte and when my wife and I saw it on the shelf at our Italian Tanneries' show room in Ferrara (stunningly beauiful setting), we both knew immediately that this one had to be added to our offerings.  The Carbon black will be perfect for sport watches where Alligator is desired, but a dressy strap is a no-go. We also were luck to find a couple of matching Hornback Alligator skins in a beautiful Classic Tan color, which are perfect, but I think can also be treated to our exclusive 'Hand Antiquing' upgrade as well.  Right now, Andrea and I are planning to make buying trips about every 6 months or so and the skins we find like the ones shown are not necessarily going to be in permanent stock with our tannery partners so if you see a color you'd like for your strap, you would be well advised to order right away, because I can't guarantee we'll have these colors in stock again.

Now Offering Au Chinois Câblé linen - best quality Linen thread from France!

Hi strap lovers.  We're proud to announce the introduction of world famous Au Chinois Câblé linen thread milled in france to the very highest standard, this thread will, I think provide additional polish to you Dangerous9strap.  Right now I'm offering Ecru, Chocolate brown and Steel Grey in the thickest thread weight they make, which I think is about the equivelant to our 4 ply ply waxed Irish linen , however, I expect to be adding additional colors and finer threads very soon.  And, while these threads are even more expensive that the waxed Irish thread that we currently offer, I'll not going to be charging extra, so if any of these colors appeals to you, please don't hesitate of request them!!

First - Nile Crocodile for Tag Heuer Carrera

(Click on any photo to enlarge)
Hi strap lovers, I want to share with you a Dangerous9strap I just completed for my very good customer for his Tag Heuer Carrera Brown Dial.  It's our first production using our recently arrived Nicotine Brown Nile Crocodile - which makes a beautiful strap and is a joy to work with.  This strap features our exclusive 'Thick Curved Lug System' - designed to curve with hug the shape of the case to give the strap a more integreted look with the watch.  Jason's strap also features our recently arrived Kangaroo lining in Vintage Whiskey which is as tough and soft and it is beautiful and super fine hand saddle stitching with Ecru 4 ply waxed linen thread.  All in all I think this strap is a real stunner.
