1980's Vintage Swiss Army Gaiter leather straps

Hi strap lovers.  I wanted to share a couple of straps (1 for Panerai and 1 for Omega) made form a Leather Swiss Army boot Gaiters.  This is a really great leather with a pebble grained texture and jet black in color.  The original finish of this leather is a sort of rubberized paint, which I think was intended to make the Gaiters watcher resistant for trooping through snow in the Swiss Alps and the leather seems also to have been infused with silicone or some such to prevent it from absorbing water.  In any case it's a really great leather to make watch straps from and these straps are surprisingly soft and supple.  The examples you see here are unstitched as per my customer's request, but of course, can certainly be stitched in any color you prefer.  I can tell by the feel of this leather and by working with it, that these are going to be very durable and hard wearing strap in spite of their softness and so are a perfect choice for someone looking for black ammo leather with texture but much more durability than the very much older and sometimes for fragile German Ammo leather.  These straps are made with tradition Ammo build construction with Tri-fold construction on the short side and the long side strap being lined with our vegetable tanned 'Nero' 'Tuscan Collection' leather, which is also extremely soft and durable.

fully integrated 1918 Swiss Ammo strap for Rolex SDDS

(Click on any Photo to enlarge)
Hi strap lovers.  Here are the results of one of the most challenging Swiss Ammo strap builds I've completed.  It's from a 1918 Swiss Ammo pouch for a very good customer's Rolex Sea Dweller Deep Sea (SDDS) with a fully integrated design.  This includes both our 'Thick Curved Lug System and notching at the lugs and is then tapered to our custom 'D9' vintage style, Flat, sewn-in buckle.  Luckily the nearly 100 year old leather, while showing a great deal of patina and vintage character was in really terrific condition so the complex design was possible. This strap is also stitch using our very limited supply Vintage Swiss Army Ecur Linen thread from the 1940's to really enhance the vintage look and feel of the unique strap.  I just love how this strap turned out and so does our customer.

Incredible Photo from FineWatchBuckles.com!!

(Click on any photo to enlarge)

Hi Strap lovers.  I was so happy to receive these jaw dropping photos from Ingo of FineWatchBuckles.com of his newly arrived Deep Blue Shark Skin strap paired with his amazing Blue-Green fossilized Mammoth Ivory buckle.  Ingo Woesner handcraft these and other wonderful buckles from Exotic woods and a number of other really cool material such as horn, etc.   If you've not taken the opportunity to check out his work I strongly recommend you follow this link.  If you're having or have had us build you a custom strap, I can't think of a better way to compliment it than with a unique hand made buckle from FineWatchBuckles.com.  These buckles reflect the care and attention to detail that is the hallmark of German craftsmanship.  Ingo's beautful buckle has been matched with a handmade Damascus steel bolt made by famous Austrian Strap and Buckle maker Ingomar Gaksch of Maddog Straps, this strap, buckle and bolt combination represents single minded passion 3 men who's talents that is pretty unique.
I just want to add some additional background on this Blue-Green Mammoth Ivory: This Ivory is estimated to be about 15,000 years old.  The Blue-Green color created while the ivory has been in contact with minerals in the soil during the thousands of years it's been in or on the ground.  The color is all natural and in the intense color shown here is in extremely limited supply, is precious and each buckle made from it in entirely one of a kind.

I am very happy to say that this strap is made for a new Kaventsmann Uhren watch model called 'Acropora', which will when pair with the watch represent the work myself as well of three really wonderful craftsman that I admire greatly and am extremely honored to be associated with.

Hi strap lovers.  This is the first completed strap from our newly expanded 'Safari Collection' - exotic African Goat, Sheep and Buffalo leathers from our bespoke tanner Tusting & Burnett.  This leather we've named Zanzibar and it's just stunning - with beautiful colors, texture and super soft to the touch.  This strap is for our great friend and customer Joe for his PAM507.  Featuring our 'Thick Curved Lug System' upgrade to provide and integrated strap fit to his PAM507 watch case.  Stitching with Butterscotch waxed Irish linen, to match the bronze Panerai, and lined with super soft Olive Drab special calfskin, I think it's going to be a perfect combo for Joe's PAM507

Hi strap lovers, Here are some photos I took of a customer watch with her new Polished Stingray strap in Coral Red.  I think this is the first time I've made a Stingray Strap with reversed noting at the lugs and I'm really happy with how it's turned out.  This strap features thick padding at the lugs and custom dyed edge paint as well as custom dyed blue Eel skin lining.
