Combined 675 years of Swiss, German and French Ammo straps

German Ammo straps: 1915 (top), 1943 (bottom)

(Click on any photo to enlarge)

Hi strap lovers.  I want to share with you some group shots of this last weeks production of Ammo straps from Swiss, German and French Ammo pouches.  All these straps were custom orders and are not for sale, however, I you would like to commission us to build a strap for your beloved watch, please contact me and I would be happy to build a custom strap you'll love.  Also, as you can see from the 1965 Swiss Ammo strap pictured below, I make straps not just for very large watches such as Panerai and Bell & Ross, but also watches of more moderate size, such as this example for a Roles Sub which not only tapers from 20mm at the lugs to 16mm at the buckle but is also much thinner that our typical Swiss Ammo strap, so that it's a better match for the Rolex Submariner watch case.

First Prototypes for New 'Safari Collection'

Marsh - Dirty Denim

Hannibal - Stone

Hi strap lovers.  We're very excited to introduce the first prototypes for our new 'Safari Collection'.  The straps you see feature leather in both African Sheep and African Buffalo from bespoke British tanners Tusting and Burnett, are of absolute top quality and are a joy to work with.

First up: Hannibal - Stone African Buffalo.  This leather has an incredible texture and color and is very thick and supple. This strap feature raw edged and has been hand saddle stitched using our recently arrived Ecru
Au Chinois Câblé linen - best quality Linen thread from France.  Also we've used our premium Vintage Style flat sewn-in 'D9' in PVD that I given a vintaged finish, which I think turned out really cool.

Second: Marsh - Dirty Denim.  This leather is African Sheep skin and again a real jewel of a hide.  The color is a kind of an acid wash denim color with great texture and almost a nubuck feel.  This strap also features a newly arrived from Australia Chestnut kangaroo lining which I think works perfectly with the blue jeans look of the African Sheep. This strap has been stitched with our butterscotch 4 ply waxed Irish linen thread with a box stitch pattern and features our recently arrived 26mm vintage style flat sewn-in buckle.

I am extremely happy with the results of our first straps and want to send a special thanks to Charlotte Tusting for providing such wonderful skins.  If you think that you would be interested in having a custom strap made for your beloved watch from our new 'Safari Collection' contact me right away.  You'll be glad you did.

Hot Stamp machine for applying our logo

Hi Strap lovers, We're very excited to share Dangerous9straps' new workshop!!! We'd been in a very small office/workshop for the last couple of years and while it functioned, it had become waaaay too small and we couldn't fit the new machines I need in order to increase production.  As my wonderful and very patient customers know, our turnaround time for straps has been running 8-10 weeks for the past several months and if we are to have any hope of shortening this lead time, we needed to increase production.  The only way to make this happen is to get a few basic machines of a professional leather operation.  These machines will both increase the speed of production and improve the quality of our completed straps. The new machines are: 1) A Vintage leather splitting machine to increase the speed and accuracy with which to split Ammo leathers, which will both increase my productivity with making ammo straps, and also put much less stress of these vintage leathers than my old fixed blade manual splitting machine.  2) A Hydraulic clicker - this machine used with leather cutting dyes with allow me to cut out the basic strap shapes with much more speed and with perfect accuracy especially with more complex strap shapes such as Bell & Ross straps which up to now I've been cutting by hand and final shaping on my belt sander.  3) Edge buffing machine - this machine with greatly improve the speed and a quality of finished edges of our straps.  4) A hot stamping press - this machine will allow us to apply a stamped maker logo into the inside of our straps instead of our old method of using a leather burning pen.  While this machine won't increase our production speed, it will give our straps a more professional finish.  One machine you won't see in our new workshop is a sewing machine - We continue to be committed to hand stitching all our straps.  The quality, durability and character of hand saddle stitching can't be match by machine stitching and so I won't use one to stitch Dangerous9straps.  Overall we're hoping that these improvements will not only allow for us to service our customers better with shorter wait times, but also provide a higher quality finish strap.
