Nubuck Caiman for Raphael's BR03 Chronograph

(Click on any photo to enlarge)

Hi strap lover. Many of you will recall the Swiss Ammo strap that I built for Raphael a few months ago for his BR03 Chronograph. He had been kind enough to send a bunch of great photo of his watch and strap which you can see (here). A few weeks ago Raphael contacted me again to request another strap (something a bit more dressy) and he really like the stitchless nubuck Caiman strap I had done for my good customer Gabe from Southern California. I still have a bit of that skin left and so hatched a plan to build another on for Raphael. Raphael's strap features Australian Kangaroo lining and instead of cutout notched at the lugs his are rolled which is a really great improvement over my earlier strap and something I'm now doing on all my exotic skin strap if the skin is thin enough to allow for it.

William's BR03 on 1942 Swiss Ammo strap to match Vintage Leica Camera Case

(click on any photo to enlarge)

Hi strap lovers. Here are a few great photo provided by my good customer William from the UK. He a serious photographer and has a great looking Leica camera with a great vintage leather case as well. Williams request was for me to help him choose a vintage leather for his Bell & Ross BR03 that will match as much as possible the vintage leather of the Leica case. After much review and some photos traded back and forth, we settled on a a 1942 Vintage Swiss Ammo that seemed to be a really great match. Williams strap, stitched with Ecru 4 ply waxed linen thread and with our vintage style sewn-in matte PVD buckle, it's got a lot of vintage character. I think these photos show that we made the right call. This is the natural color of this Swiss Ammo pouch he Chose - like all Dangerous9straps ' Swiss Ammo straps. Thanks William for the great photos, yours is 'Watch of the Week'!!

Gabe's Super Fine BR126 Officers watch on Black leather Nato, Eel Skin lining

(Click on any photo to enlarge)

Hi strap lovers, here is a strap that I recently completed for my friend and good customer Gabe from Southern California. When Gabe first contacted me about building a Nato strap for his incoming BR126 silver dial Officer's watch, I was a bit skeptical. A Nato strap combined with this extremely elegant watch from Bell & Ross seemed a bit incongruent. But when he described his vision for a black "dress" Nato strap in more detail, a picture formed in my mind that confirmed to me that this combination could not only work, but be an inspired choice. unbenounced to Gabe, I had independently decided give his black leather "dress" Nato strap a little twist: a Smote Grey Eel skin lining. Any of you readers of this blog is be aware that we here at Dangerous9straps have really been taken with Eel skin for use as a lining for several reasons: 1) It's a beautiful, exotic skin, which adds a true touch of class and luxury 2) It's wonderfully soft against the skin. 3) Eel skin is incredibly strong and thin. For all these reasons, Eel skin is just about the perfect lining material for most watch straps. Having never used Eel as a lining for a standard leather strap, let alone a Nato strap, I wasn't sure that the combination would work. However, since Gabe's design concept was for a 'Dressy' Nato to be combined with arguably the most elegant watch offered by Bell & Ross, I decided that if Eel skin was to work with any Nato, it would work here. I chose to use one or my most elegant colors - an almost silver toned Smoke Grey, which I though would be a great contrast to the Black leather and also a great match for the elegant silver dial of Gabe's BR126. Here are the results, which I think are both dramatic and understatedly elegant at the same time. if you'd like to read Gabes full review, you can see it here: BR-avo.com: Black leather NATO (w/eel underside) by Dangerous9straps
Thanks Gabe for posting these lovely photos and for allowing their use on my blog! Yours is 'Watch of the Week'!!

BR02/1951 vintage Swiss Army Nato/Zulu at Newport Beach California

(Click on any photo to enlarge)

Hi strap lovers, I wanted to share some photos of my trip yesterday to Newport Beach, California wearing my BR02/1951 vintage Swiss Army Nato/Zulu. I was a beautiful day, to do some swimming. I've been swimming with this strap combo for the last 2 weeks during my Southern California vacation and the strap is holding up remarkably well:-) I had been concerned about wearing vintage leather in the Ocean, but with a proper fresh water rinse and allowing it to dry naturally and the occasional Obenhauf's Heavy Duty, L.P. treatment (which I will do when I'm back in Germany), it's showing no signs or wear or miss treatment from my swimming and diving:-)
